Adventurer

high winds last night

blowing the clouds through at a rapid pace

rattling lines and latches

calm enough waters, some swell

spinning hard on the anchor

we are alone in this isolated bay

but we’re secure

makes me feel like an adventurer

vigilant, exposed, self-reliant

strong enough and smart enough, one hopes

to keep boat and body safe

the morning sun is welcome

after the dark night

we have a short but stiff sail today

tomorrow the winds should die down
